Phase 2 begins.......

I am a terrible blogger, but I will try again. I started phase two about three weeks ago. I am loving it so far, but I took an easier semester on purpose. It's summer and I wasn tto see my kids.......so I can't get used to this pace as far as school work goes. My new preceptorship has been a breath of fresh air. I look forward to seeing her. Our personalities match so well. I can't even begin to express how thankful I am. I am going to be super sad when she moves next summer. I would work with her my whole student phase if I could, while working with a few other preceptors maybe in the summers to round out my learning. This term I am in Botany, Prenatal Care 1, Sociology 2010 and Clinic 2010. So far so good. Botany is a lot of attention to detail for sure and researching plants. I think next week I make my first tincture. Today I tried to make dandelion tea, but I don't think we had enough dandilions.

Missed my first primary

 Man oh man, I am mad at myself.  I was running a birth and I froze.  My preceptor asked the client if they wanted counter-pressure and I looked down and didn't see any sort of opening, so I was hesitant.  The next contraction the baby came flying out!  I hesitated enough that I missed the catch :(  Lesson learned, your preceptor was prompting you idiot!!!  Take it!

Phase 3

 Ahh, I am terrible at keeping up obviously. I am phase three, but no phase three births yes, however plenty of phase 3 prenatals and a good deal of initials.  Yay!

Reflection 2.4 Amy, Bess and Claire

Establishing boundaries Amy  Amy first texts on Thursday at 9 pm. She reports "very strong" contractions that are happening about every 3-9 minutes and lasting from 30 seconds - 2 minutes long. She texts again at 1 am saying contractions are even stronger now and happening about every 5 minutes and lasting 45 seconds long. She calls on Friday morning at 6 am reporting contractions every 5 minutes and 50-60 seconds long.
